BBQ by Nell & Natasha at Eats and Beats in Riverside!!

The Mother and Daughter Team Nell Bradshaw and Natasha Varjacic are hosting their 5th Annual Free BBQ for Eats and Beats Event on June 7th! Come out and feed your stomach and soul at Nell and Natasha’s free BBQ.

Who are Nell & Natasha?

Nell & Natasha have more than 25 years experience serving buyers and sellers of Toronto Real Estate. Living and working in the heart of the Riverside district Nell and Natasha are active contributors to the community.  Because real estate is also about the communities in which we choose to live and work, they believe in giving back.

They host Annual neighbourhood events like a Spring BBQ and Halloween Pumpkin Patch from their office at 807A Queen Street East (conveniently located across from Jimmie Simpson Park).  Proceeds from these events always go to local charities.  Natasha is also active in the Riverside Business Association as an Executive Board Member of the Riverside BIA.

Nell is involved in community organizing, special events and fundraisers.  She and Natasha also support community development a world away.  Each month Nell and Natasha donate a portion of their commissions to help provide food, school supplies and access to clean water to the children and families of All Saints Anglican Church in Maseno, Kenya.

Get to meet this Dynamic duo this Saturday, June 7th at the Eats & Beats Street Fest. In addition to the free BBQ, make sure you don’t miss out on other entertainments for your little ones, such as: face paintings, balloons, prizes and many more!

Save the Date – June 5th – The Riverside Bridge Lights-up for the Pan American Games

The Riverside BIA is excited to sponsor the lighting of the Riverside Bridge in time for the 2015 Pan Am games!

The bridge has been a symbol of riverside since its creation in the early 1800s. While it was originally a humble wooden bridge, it now stands as an artistic creation. In 1996 Eldon Garnet added his own touch. He created the clock as well as the quote “The river I step in is not the river I stand in”. The bridge is now a passage into the beautiful neighbourhood of Riverside.

Currently, when approaching the bridge at night its artistic features get lost in the darkness. The bridge will be lit using energy efficient LED lights that will accent the work of the original bridge builders as well as Mr. Garnet’s beautiful additions.

This lighting project will be complete just in time for Toronto’s debut as the host of the Pan Am games! Given Riverside’s close proximity to the athlete’s village, we expect this artistic project to impress the entire continent!

Celebrate a New Mural in Riverside!

The City of Toronto is supporting another mural in Riverside! This beautiful art piece will be painted at 1 Munroe Street; on the Oma Chiropractic building .

The mural will display the rich history of Riverside with a sports theme. The theme is in the spirit of the Pan American Games as Riverside will be in close proximity to the athlete’s village. Riverside’s history of sport is incredible and the Riverside BIA is very proud to showcase the long history of sport in the area. A couple of interesting facts about Riverside’s history in sport:

Riverside was home to Toronto’s first professional Baseball Field

The Royal Canadian Curling Club is located in Riverside and has been for over 100 years

In the early 1900s inhabitants of Riverside went to the Don River to skate and curl

Before the streetcar came to Queen Street, it was an important horse drawn carriage route

Below is illustrative example of what the mural will look like. We look forward to seeing this incredible work of art come to life! Join us in celebrating the commencement of this beautiful mural on June 7th at 3:00pm.
