From April 3rd to 7th, wine and craft beer lovers can take part in the 4th annual Riverside Wine & Craft Beer Fest, to delight in tasting new and established Ontario wines and locally brewed craft beers, while getting to know Riverside shops, eateries and community spaces better. It’s essentially an Ontario wine and craft beer tour – right here in Riverside!
This year’s festival is hosted by the Riverside BIA, co-sponsored by Team Sheppard RE/MAX Hullmark and Jason Friesen Mortgage, and supported by festival partners Eastbound Brewing Co., Toronto Food Tours, the Ralph Thornton Community Centre and All Wrapped Up Events.

We were happy to take this opportunity to catch up with Jason and help share his story:
What do you love about Riverside-what do you feel makes this area unique?
Jason: I love Riverside because the area has a lot of diversity and a great energy about it. It’s still very much an up and coming neighbourhood, so you have a great mix of the old and new all living and working in the area. It has a great energy to it.
Why did you decide to sponsor this event and how does it connect to you?
Jason: Since moving my business into the neighbourhood in 2015, I have gotten to know several great people who both live and work in the area and like to give back any way I can. Anything that brings more visitors into the area bars, pubs, restaurants and breweries benefits the community as a whole. I really like how this area is becoming a destination for evenings and weekends. The selection of options for food and drink are pretty great in the area.

What’s your favourite thing about the work you do?
Jason: I love coming to work every day and helping my clients realize their dreams of home ownership. It’s a pretty rewarding feeling to be a big part of such an important financial decision.
