Take a walk on the wild side with expert local herbalist Danette Steele. Identify common wild plants that are good for food and medicine. This popular walk will follow Riverside sidewalks, lane ways and parks as Danette shares information about the current and historical uses of plant medicine in the city. *10:30am Gather at Queen St E and Saulter St for informal mingling and tasting herbal teas. *11am Walk departs from Queen/Saulter Library steps (765 Queen St E).
This FREE guided tour is part of the ‘Riverside Walks’ series of free local walking tours throughout the spring, summer and fall (May-October) that invite people to come and explore the vibrant Riverside neighbourhood, located along Queen Street East between the DVP and Empire Avenue, Toronto. Our 2016 guided walks, sponsored by Team Sheppard Re/MAX, will showcase Riverside’s diverse culture and cater to a wide variety of interests. This Walk, happening on May 7th, is also part of the international Jane’s Walk, a global movement of free, citizen-led walking tours inspired by Jane Jacobs. The walks get people to tell stories about their communities, explore their communities, and connect with neighbours.
