Riverside BIA We’re Growing – Features: The Kickback Foundation

This week on Riverside BIA We’re Growing, the youth are front and centre! We’re putting a spotlight on Kickback Foundation, who have their office at 100 Broadview.

A proud Toronto-based non-profit that started out as a sneaker drive, The Kickback Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to reach their full potential. Run by artists, athletes, social workers and community leaders from the same neighbourhoods Kickback now serves, they come up with programs and experiences with the youth in mind.

Kickback’s community-led initiatives seamlessly integrate sports, art and education, giving kids platforms to express themselves and explore their interests, while also getting to learn and connect with others.

Some of the foundation’s key programs include the Kickback Run Club, a weekly run club that champions the positive effects of physical activity; Open Source, a series of open forums featuring professionals from different fields; and Reframe, a platform where filmmakers and artists get to screen their work and share their knowledge.

Kickback has certainly come a long way from just giving away sneakers. The foundation is doing more than just organizing events and programming. The Kickback Foundation and the amazing team behind it is helping shape the next generation — the future athletes, artists, filmmakers and talent who will make an impact on the community.
