Support the Community by Joining the Riverside Green Initiative

Did you know that the Riverside has a Green Initiative?

With the gardening season quickly approaching, the Riverside Community Garden in Joel Weeks Park is welcoming new members. Memberships are available to anyone who lives, work or plays in the Riverside neighbourhood. The garden operates on a communal model with shared space and no plots from May to October during the gardening season. Memberships are $25 to $35 per season and allow you to grow fresh vegetables and herbs.

The group was formed in early 2012 with the purpose of doing outreach, education, and community‐building around green initiatives in Riverside. Although community gardening is a core interest of the group, current and future activities also include community clean-ups, education around nutrition, container gardening, and farmers markets in partnership with Toronto Parks and Recreation, Toronto Community Housing Corporation, the Riverside BIA, the Ralph Thornton Centre and others community partners.
