Riverside Business Profile
Jasper Dandy
Ever wondered how the new bar on the block came up with its unusual name?
Jasper Dandy owner, Cam MacDonell explains, “There was a meeting of the minds one night and the word Dandy kept getting bounced around. We were then told of a ferret that our friend, Chris Steele, owned named Jasper Dandy. It was perfect! After saying it in conversation a few times, and with Steele’s blessing, it was settled.”
Cam’s friend is now has a lifetime supply (or at least a few pounds) of chicken wings available to him on the house, thanks to his creative contribution.
Open since July 2018, Cam has transformed the former Boots and Bourbon bar into a welcoming and comfortable neighbourhood pub, offering sports fans a new place catch a Leafs game with full sound – or any Toronto sports team in action, for that matter. In addition to chicken wings, Jasper Dandy’s menu features burgers, Pad Thai, perogies and other classic comfort foods.
After working in the west end for many years, Cam decided it was time to take his food and restaurant career east of the DVP.
We decided on Riverside for the community feel,” he says. I grew up in a small town. I love being in the city. It’s the best of both worlds,” he says.
