It’s less than a week away to Valentine’s day, and there is so much love to celebrate in #FebruaryMonthofLove. For today’s tribute, we are inspired by the British Invasion. Let’s start with a look back to 51 years ago.
Love happened on February 9, 1964
The Beatles make their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. A nation swoons as Beatlemania takes over. On this date, 51 years ago, at 8pm the live broadcast of the first Ed Sullivan Show was aired with the full Beatle line-up. The boys from Britian belted out five LOVE songs (All My Loving, Till There Was You, She Loves You, I Saw Her Standing There and I Want To Hold Your Hand) and made broadcasting history. Seventy-three million people were reported to have watched the first show. It is still supposed to be one of the largest viewing audiences ever in the States. On that same show three other British acts completed the show’s schedule – ‘The British Invasion’ was now well under way.
