Just in time for the holidays, a trio of craft-show veterans have set up in the old Hardware Interiors space at 760 Queen Street East, bringing hand-crafted goods from around the city and around the world to Riverside. Those of us waiting for a restaurant or bar in the space will be waiting a little longer for it to become something permanent, but from now until December 24th we have a cozy shop with fun goods warming up the space.

The focus here is on natural fibres, upcycled pieces, and reusable products. Hand-made leather journals ($8-small) are filled with natural paper and can be refilled rather than replaced, and leather clutches made from local scraps as well. Coffee bags are made into sturdy jute totes and sell for $5 (3 for $12). Alpaca knits from Peru (scarves for $15-25), leather bags and books from India, and local knit goods are all great gift ideas for the holidays and round out the offerings in the shop.  Buying gifts for others? There’s handmade decorative paper from India for a mere $2 per sheet to wrap the goodies up.

Shelle, Jessica and Daisy are often found across Toronto from flea markets to shows and fairs.  Between them they are usually at the Leslieville Flea, the Royal Winter Fair, Brickworks Farmers Market, and usual hot spots for handmade gear around town.   A friend-of-a-friend connected them with the owners of the space, and they decided to take over the unit before its next incarnation.  Jessica says “people often ask ‘where’s your store?’ and now we can tell them we actually have one!”
