Super Six For Kids Presents Goldibox: A Book Drive To Benefit The Children’s Book Bank!

Goldiboxes

GOLDIBOX is the first fundraising initiative produced by Super Six For Kids. Gold boxes will appear in various businesses, community centres and stores at selected locations around Toronto for the next two weeks. Super Six For Kids will be asking for new or gently used books for children from birth to twelve years of age from the public to support our goal of 500 donated books to The Children`s Book Bank. For anyone who is able to donate large quantities of books, in-person pickup will be available. Please support this tremendous charity and help us achieve and exceed our goal.
About The Children`s Book Bank:
“The Children’s Book Bank collects gently used children’s books from families who have finished with them and from publishers and retailers who cannot use them and distributes them through a storefront book bank in the Regent Park area of Toronto.
A visit to The Children’s Book Bank is much like a visit to a favourite children’s bookstore, except that the books are free of charge. The Children’s Book Bank has a large inventory of beautiful books suitable for children from birth to age twelve. Families are welcome to visit as often as they wish and every person is permitted to take and keep one book per visit. The Children’s Book Bank is staffed by child literacy experts who assist the customers in selecting appropriate books and who provide advice and support on literacy issues. The Children’s Book Bank offers literacy support programs including its popular Stories for Students Program and its Books Beyond Berkeley Street Program.”

About Super Six For Kids:
We are six first-year George Brown College students who are studying to become Child and Youth Care Counsellors. In order to give back to our community, our program has all of its students create locally-based fundraisers that support children and youth in the Toronto area.

I’ll Be Seeing You…at the new place to meet for a drink and a bite in Riverside

I'll be seeing you blog

I’ll be seeing you…, owned by two sisters, with a dollar and a dream – Natasha and Vanessa, opened up at 747 Queen Street East on December 2nd.

This cozy new spot entices you in with its beautiful vintage decor: from the sister’s mom’s antique couch at the entrance to the hand-picked plate collection at the back. Feels just like a home (if we were super stylish that is!).

The sisters, originally from the West End have migrated to our East End, and have been frequenters of Riverside for some time now.

I’ll Be seeing you offers uniquely spun cocktails like the Smoke Show  – which gives a new twist to the classic Caesar – to The Disappearing Unicorn, which will vanish before your eyes….  Light fare like salted warm pretzels, cheese platters, and meat platters are the perfect accompaniment to go with a glass of Henry of Pelham’s Baco Noir. To satisfy your soul there’s the Mad Mac, mac and cheese with three cheeses and panko crumbs, or baked wings and pickled veggies.
Needless to say, we’ll be seeing you there soon!

He puts a high priority on giving back to the community and frequently donates his time to numerous charity events and causes to benefit the community. From his yearly presence at the Riverside Eats & Beats StreetFEST with a big canoe, to the Annual Antler Breakfast he puts on in support of community initiatives like the Rivertowne Breakfast Program – he is truly part of the heart of Riverside!

More about Scott Savoie | Chef + Founder

Chef Scott is a bilingual, private chef/culinary instructor with over 25 years diverse culinary experience. His mother introduced him to cooking at a young age, as he would often get underfoot while she made her delicious homemade bread. He got his first taste of the restaurant business washing dishes in a greasy spoon at the age of 12 and from these humble beginnings, Chef Scott gained invaluable experience. His early years were spent honing his culinary skills in Montreal restaurants and private clubs. He is well versed in a variety of cooking styles from comfort food to fine dining but is best known for his flare of marrying seafood and wild game with a fusion twist.

He founded Culinary Adventure Co. to showcase the culinary diversity of Canada’s largest city to locals and visitors alike.
